GOVIS Events - 2017

Breakfast Presentation - 30 November 2017 - Value Led Innovation

GOVIS would like to invite you to attend a breakfast presentation entitled “Value Led Innovation” by Owen McCall. Owen is a lively, engaging and pragmatic presenter who will share his ideas, experiences and even a secret or two on this topic. As we’re sure you’re aware, there is increasing pressure on IT leaders to deliver transformational change, to optimise IT using approaches like Agile and DevOps. An increasing number of government agencies are starting to consider these approaches, which by nature are highly disruptive. So what are the chances of success or failure? How can CIOs and executives responsible for IT lead these types of transformational change?

A little background on our speaker: Owen McCall, former CIO of the Warehouse from 2003 to 2011, transformed the Warehouse's ICT delivery to be customer and business focused so that it became a strategic enabler of business strategy and outcomes. By focusing on value, Owen was able to lead and communicate change both to his executive, his business leaders and his staff.

If you’re able to attend please RSVP including any dietary requirement by Friday November 24th. If you’re unable to attend please feel free to delegate this to a direct report.

We look forward to meeting you on November 30th.

Come along to hear about some of the interesting things CERT NZ is doing and what they’ve seen so far in the threat landscape of New Zealand.

At this forum we will hear from:

Lunchtime Forum - 20 September 2017 - Take a number - how the NZ Business Number is changing the way NZ does business

MORE BUSINESS, LESS WORK

The NZBN is transforming the way Kiwi organisations connect, interact and transact - whether they’re a large business, a government agency or the local plumber.

What’s the NZBN? It’s a globally unique identifier available to all businesses and government agencies in New Zealand, linked to the core information that businesses are most often asked to share.

So, with over 90 agencies subject to NZBN whole-of-government directions, what opportunities can the NZBN offer your agency? What will it mean for your customers and suppliers?

At this forum we will hear from:

  • Jo Hogan, Director of the NZBN – “Beyond compliance – how the NZBN is enabling a truly digital business environment”.
  • Grant Anderson, Head of Government Relationships, Xero – “How Xero is using the NZBN to streamline processes and help customers make better business decisions”.

Lunchtime Forum - 16 August 2017 - New Directions for Data in Government

GOVIS and the Government Information Group invite you to this joint forum.

Across government there is an increasing focus on getting more value from our data. There are a variety of initiatives underway to improve data management, establish frameworks for data accountability and governance, develop data standards, and better understand the information held by agencies and how it can be managed as an asset.

What does all this mean for information managers across the public sector? How can information professionals engage with this work? What are the opportunities to engage with other parts of our organisations? Come along to hear about the work underway and understand what this might mean for your agency.

This session will be slightly longer than the usual GOVIS forum. We’ll have a range of short presentations from people who are leading this work across government including Tony Breen, Kevin Sweeney, Alison Holt, Claire Stent, James Collier and Cam Findlay. That will be followed by a panel Q&A.
