GOVIS AGM 2026

The GOVIS AGM will be held from 4.45pm on Thursday September 17th at The Thistle Inn, Wellington (and online). Formalities start from 5pm. Food and drink are provided.

It has been a busy year for GOVIS - we have run Copilot training sessions, and our biggest conference in the post-COVID era, with over 175 people registered and 10 sponsors. We have bedded in our new constitution by developing a members register and confirming many new members and subscribing agencies, partners, and sponsors; and have forged some new ones. Most importantly, we have held true to our core values of helping public servants who work in technology, information, data and AI to connect, share and learn; through what has been a challenging period for many of our members.

At the AGM we will:

  • Reflect on our successes and challenges in the past year

  • Agree on our priorities for the year ahead

  • Vote on our organising committee and officers

  • Confirm minor ammendments to new constitution from 2025

We will share papers to RSVPed attendees one week in advance of the AGM.

A GOVIS AGM is a lot of fun, so you should definitely come along! It's a chance to get to know the GOVIS committee better and have a chat or to tentatively explore becoming more involved, even if it is just in a small or informal way. Being part of GOVIS is a way give back to our profession - GOVIS events don't just happen by themselves and we need a range of skills to function. Being on the GOVIS committee is also a way to step up and develop yourself. So, whether you’re an events pro, finance whiz, project manager with flair, can decipher contracts, are a creative marketing guru, love connecting and learning, or just want to be supporting our kaupapa, then the AGM is the place for you.

Anyone is welcome to attend, but only GOVIS members may stand for the committee and the officer roles (i.e. President, Treasurer and Secretary), and vote on nominations or motions. GOVIS members need to 1) complete the membership form & declaration, and 2) ensure they have paid either as an individual or that their employer is a subscribing agency. For more information, see our membership page, or contact us here: members@govis.org.nz

If you would like to nominate yourself (or someone else) for the committee or for an officer role (i.e. President, Treasurer, or Secretary), then please the GOVIS Secretary know by Tuesday 15th September. If you would like a motion to be tabled at the AGM, please also let the GOVIS Secretary know any time prior to the AGM. You can contact the GOVIS Secretary here: info@govis.org.nz

Logistics:

  • We are meeting at the Thistle Inn on 3 Mulgrave Street, upstairs in the Georges Room. The room will be ready and food & drink available from 4.45pm, so if you are attending in person please try to arrive at this time so that there is time to get settled in and fed & watered before we begin.

  • Details for connecting on Microsoft Teams will be sent out prior to the event to everyone who registers for the AGM. If you are attending online, you are welcome to join the call any time from 4.45pm but note that formal proceedings will not begin until around 5.00pm.
