The Buzzies are peer recognition awards that have been
instituted by GOVIS to
- Celebrate individual, team and
organisational success in IT / IM / KM.
- Identify and foster leaders
- Look forward not back
- Foster innovation and creativity
- Encourage responsibility and
accountability for results
- Recognise that it's not always plain
sailing, and that the important thing is to learn from our small
failures
I. Qualifying Organisations
All non-profit making organisations in central government are
eligible, i.e. departments, agencies and crown entities.
Profit-making organisations such as SOEs are not eligible. Anyone
may nominate an entry to the Organisation awards.
II. Qualifying Project / System Categories
Tools and Hardware (great use of hardware)
Technology and Society (people focussed
systems)
On the Frontier (leading edge stuff)
Rough Sailing (delivery despite adversity)
At least some significant element(s) of the
nominated system must be in live operation (i.e. work-in-progress
does not qualify).
GOVIS invites nominations for the Buzzies with the
intention of announcing the awards in conjunction with the biennial GOVIS Conference,
held in May of every odd numbered year.
Nominations will be called for in advance of
the conference and the closing date advised, usually a week or two
prior to the conference. The conveners aim to include as many worthwhile
entries as possible.
Nominees are interviewed and their stories are
written up in a standard format for judging.
If you'd like to see examples from previous
years, check out the Buzzies
stories that were submitted for previous conferences and held on
this website.
