Eligibility

Membership of GOVIS is by organisation, and is restricted to agencies that meet one of the following criteria:

• Inclusion in the First schedule of the State Sector Act 1988
• They are an organisation listed by name in the Fourth schedule of the Public Finance Act 1989
• They are a "State service" as defined in Section 2 Interpretation, of the State Sector Act 1988
• They are listed in the GOVIS Constitution

Member organisations pay $200 per annum to belong. Some events, such as the Conference, are charged seperately on a cost-recovery basis.

Member Only Services

GOVIS operates a number of closed services for its member agencies to use for interdepartmental communication and knowledge sharing. Current financial membership by an organisation entitles staff to access the GOVIS Member Only value-added services.

These value-added services include:

• attend GOVIS Special Interest Group meetings (SIGs)
• participate in GOVIS on-line and email forums

Generally, a special interest group will be aligned with one of the GOVIS email forums, hosted by Yahoo Groups.

Yahoo Groups:

Group calendar, file sharing, web links, chat, discussion groups and much more are offered. Membership in the GOVIS Yahoo Groups is moderated and open to all staff of member organisations. Please note however, the email address you use to join a forum must be owned and managed by a Member Agency
 

Conferences:

GOVIS members have available on-line, all the papers from the GOVIS conferences.

GOVIS Conferences and one-day seminars are often open to non-members as well as members. Where this is the case the registration materials will show a discounted registration fee for members and a non-member fee.
