WAI: Friend or Foe
???
In recent months two
significant factors have brought 'accessible web site design' on
to the web site manager's radar screen. Firstly the release of the
e-Government web guidelines, which make a formal recommendation
of the World Accessibility Initiative (WAI). Secondly, changes to
the Human Rights Act meaning increased responsibility on Government
Agencies for equity in providing access to information and services.
But what is the WAI?
What is accessible design? How is it measured, how do we get it,
and how will we know when we've got it?
If you're responsible
for a Government agency web site you need attend this forum, to
hear about the practicalities from two people who have recent experience
in implementing accessible web sites within the NZ Government.
