GOVIS provides listserves hosted by Yahoo Groups for its member organisations to use for interdepartmental communication and knowledge sharing. Group calendar, file sharing, web links, chat, discussion groups and much more are offered.

List membership is NOT automatic. Please see the membership criteria before applying. Your application will be reviewed by the Forum moderators and will be declined if your application doesn't meet the criteria.

Membership Criteria

With the exception of the "Notices" group (see details below), membership of the GOVIS Yahoo Groups is moderated but open to all staff of member organisations. The groups are NOT made available to non-member organisations or to individuals who are not currently employed by a member organisation.

The email address you use to join a forum must be owned and managed by a Member Agency in one of their registered domains - see the members page for a list of agencies and their commonly used domains.

To access the mailing list archives and other Yahoo Groups on-line facilities, you will need a Yahoo Groups account. After joining, you will need to associate your GOVIS member agency email address with your new Yahoo Groups account. If you are already a Yahoo Groups member, you can use your existing account by associating your GOVIS member agency email address

If you only wish to receive GOVIS emails you can subscribe by email and without the need for a Yahoo Groups account using the addresses below.
 

Membership of the "Notices" group is un-moderated, and anyone may subscribe. However, this is a broadcast only group, and only the officers of GOVIS are permitted to post to it. The primary purpose of this group is to distribute announcements of GOVIS events that may be of interest to non-members, although naturally, members are welcome to subscribe if they wish.
