Dear Colleagues and Friends

The Government Information Systems Manager's Forum (GOVIS) is pleased to invite you to take part in the 2002 Conference ‘emerge’.  Prime Minister Helen Clarke has been invited to open the conference.

Emerge has been selected as the theme for this year’s conference in recognition of the significant progress made in various areas related to IT\IM\IS across government.  It reflects the merging of central and local government services particularly evident with the Government Portal roll out mid year.  This also symbolises GOVIS continuing to evolve and emerge as the foremost Government forum for IT\IM\IS professionals.

Delegates will come from Information Management, Information Technology, Knowledge Management and similar backgrounds and will include CIO's, senior managers, decision-makers, system designers and operators.  The GOVIS conference will provide a forum where these delegates gather to participate and learn about issues and opportunities that will affect the development of Government Services beyond 2002.

We have arranged an exciting and stimulating programme that will attract and challenge delegates in what we expect to be the best attended GOVIS Conference yet.   Speakers in the parallel series will share with you their experiences of technology, service delivery and management issues relevant to e-commerce, e-government and emerging technologies.

This year we are again offering a workshop series preceding the conference on Tuesday 23 July 2002.  The programme is open to GOVIS members as well as a wider audience.  Numbers are limited per workshop so make sure you get in early to secure your place.

This year we are providing more opportunity to get other members of your team who are unable to attend the conference to participate in the networking aspect.  The Trade Exhibition will be open to the public prior to the conference opening (Fiesta Happy Hour) on Tuesday.  We also encourage you to invite your team along for the Mardi Gras dinner on Friday 26 July.  This is an opportunity for your whole team to socialize, celebrate and network with delegates, trade and sponsors. …

'Emerge' will be the largest assembly of Government representatives from this industry in one location in New Zealand.   I am confident that you will gain positively from the experience we have in store!

I personally invite you to be an integral part of this vibrant conference and I look forward to seeing you there!'
