The SSC website states: “Vision
Statement -
Electronic Government in New Zealand (1999) The
EGovernment Vision Statement provides a picture
for public servants and government agencies of the
way that the Government expects to see them
working in the future - as a team, rather than as
a raft of disconnected entities.
Much work will be required to achieve these
things. Over the coming months, strategies for
doing so will be developed and implemented. “ For two days in May, information management
professionals within the public sector will come
together in conference at the Plaza International
Hotel, Wellington, to develop a better
understanding of e-Government.. Speakers from Australian and the US will talk
about actual case studies and real business
issues. Speakers
from New Zealand will present current progress in
achieving EGovernment in our country. This is a presentation organised by
public servants, for public servants who
are interested in: * Information Technology * Information Management * Records & Document Management * Knowledge Management Attendance is open to those whose government
department is a current member of GOVIS
and to all other government entities on
payment of membership or an additional fee.
The pre-conference seminar is also open to
corporate sector people. GOVIS is an informal association within the
public sector, seeks to provides a place where
Government information professionals can meet on a
semi-regular basis and
share knowledge and experiences with each
other. It
is a voluntary group which first met in 1992.
Since then the faces have changed, but the aim of
maintaining contact across the public sector has
remained. We look forward to meeting you at the
conference. Michael Pearson
