Government Open Access Licencing Framework
Keitha Booth (SSC) and Richard Best (DIA) will speak on the
Draft NZ Government Open Access Licencing Framework.
This document provides guidance for State Services agencies on open
access to non-copyright information; and open licensing of copyright
works, to allow their re-use by others.
Keitha and Richard are very interested to hear questions and
thoughts on the draft framework. |

Technology Partner Governance
Outsourcing of IT responsibilities is becoming an ever increasing
activity and makes up a large proportion of the IT budget.
Executives require more complete representations in terms of vendor
performance and overall business value. These outsourced
relationships can present a series of challenges and complexities if
not managed and also effectively governed.
This presentation tests the paradigm of utilizing traditional
contract management in managing Information Technology and
Telecommunications (IT&T) outsourcing and suggests an alternative
approach that repositions contract management as an activity in an
overall Technology Partner Governance function.
This presentation also touches on how to establish a pathway toward
Multi Vendor Governance or Multi Technology Partner Governance.
Speaker: Myles Ward, Business Manager in the Office of the CIO at

NZ OnScreen with Brenda Leeuwenberg
NZ On Screen is a charitable Trust fully funded by NZ On Air. The NZ
On Screen website was launched in October 2008. It won the Qantas
Best Entertainment website earlier this month.
You may have already used it to discover the best of New Zealand
screen content, our finest hours; like Gloss, The Governor, and many
short films viewable for free.
Since launch it has had around 150,000 visitors and consistently
positive responses.
Project Director Brenda Leeuwenberg will talk with us and answer
your queries about
- how this website was conceived, designed
and developed within one year - on budget
- their experiences using Agile
methodologies - with two suppliers in different locations
- navigating the deep and tangled web of
copyright issues and legal clearances involved
- the many lessons learned and what's next
for this public-good site .

Government Projects the Agile Way: Can It Be
Done?
Our panel explored the opportunities for - and issues facing -
the adoption of Agile development methodologies in the government
space.
A detailed commentary and index
to the recorded discussion is available in the State
Services Commission's
In-Development blog.
On the GOVIS website,
this page indexes the audio files. |

Perspectives on Open Data: Re-use of
government held non-personal data
This was a GOVIS sponsored workshop in
association with speakers from Webstock 2009. The panel and audience
explored the common issues that government must address to free up
its data in re-usable forms.
Panellists: Nat Torkington, Adrian Holovaty (EveryBlock), Fiona
Romeo (UK National Maritime Museum), David Recordon, Toby
Segaram.
The State Services Commission's
In-Development blog,
good reading in its own right, now includes a very detailed index
and summarised transcript of the recorded audio files in
this blog entry
The audio files
are hosted on the GOVIS website with a less detailed index and can
be accessed on
this page, but we recommend you refer
to In-Development's index as a guide to the questions and answers
that are of greatest interest to you. |

Privacy myths and misunderstandings -
BOTPA (because of the Privacy Act) is often heard as a good reason not to do things - things that feel like common
sense and improved service. But is the Act really the
innovation-killer some might believe?
Katrine Evans from the Office of the Privacy Commission, (Assistant
Commissioner Legal and Comms) shed light on the myths and realities of NZ privacy legislation.

This was an EDRMS interest group and GOVIS joint event. The problem
we examined was ensuring accountability for maintaining the record
of government when operating in complex, joined up ways to help
deliver the best public services to New Zealanders. Records and IT
need to make it work as simply as possible for staff and other
users.
Download the bullet points from the discussion groups (PDF
25 KB or
MS
Word 80 KB) exploring the issues and possible solutions,
including a strategic approach around common EDRMS open standards
and meta-data. |
