GOVIS/GIG Lunchtime Forum - New Directions for Data in Government

Start Date/Time:
Wednesday, 16 August 2017 12:00 PM

End Date/Time:
Wednesday, 16 August 2017 2:00 PM

GOVIS and the Government Information Group (GIG) invite you to this joint forum.

Across government there is an increasing focus on getting more value from our data.  There are a variety of initiatives underway to improve data management, establish frameworks for data accountability and governance, develop data standards, and better understand the information held by agencies and how it can be managed as an asset.

What does all this mean for information managers across the public sector?  How can information professionals engage with this work? What are the opportunities to engage with other parts of our organisations? Come along to hear about the work underway and understand what this might mean for you and your agency.

This session will be slightly longer than the usual GOVIS forum. We’ll have a range of short presentations from people who are leading this work across government including Tony Breen, Kevin Sweeney, Alison Holt, Claire Stent, James Collier and Cam Findlay. That will be followed by a panel Q&A.

People who work for GOVIS member agencies or are members of GIG will be given priority for places.

As usual, a light lunch will be provided.
