GOVIS wishes to invite you to a special event!

The National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa is proud to be hosting the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) Web Archiving Conference in Wellington, 13-15 November 2018.

As web archiving practice enters its third decade – curating, preserving and making historic web content accessible to both researchers and the public – the IIPC Web Archiving Conference comes to Australasia for the first time. The Conference presents a programme of presentations, workshops, panels and posters that reflects both the mature achievements in web archiving over the past 20 years as well as the range of challenges for this critical task of accurately collecting and preserving our online culture and discourse.

For full details about the conference, keynote speakers, programme and to register visit the Web Archiving Conference website.

Truth, justice and the Internet – Free Public Event – Sponsored by GOVIS

If you cannot attend the conference in full then consider attending the FREE evening event "Truth, justice and the Internet" hosted by the National Library of New Zealand and InternetNZ and sponsored by GOVIS, being held on Tuesday 13 November 6-8 pm at the National Library.

More and more of our time is spent on the Internet and current debate around the globe is often focussed on the facts and fictions that people and communities are promulgating online.

An extraordinary international panel will explore integrity in the online world. We want to explore the impact of truth (and fiction) being posted online - for every part of the globe to see and be part of. Panel members are:

  • Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist, Google (and known as the father of the Internet)
  • Jefferson Bailey: Director, Web Archiving, Internet Archive;
  • Dr Rachael Ka’ai-Mahuta: Senior Researcher, Te Ipukarea, the National Māori Language Institute, Auckland University of Technology
  • Wendy Seltzer: Strategy Lead and Counsel, World Wide Web Consortium

Tickets are limited and are going fast, so register now to secure your place.
