
GOVIS 2012 will be held on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 June 2012, at the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa, in Wellington.
GOVIS 2012 is a major public conference event bringing together more than 200 government leaders and their information and technology staff.

Draft Programme Outline
The theme for GOVIS 2012 is <Share>. The programme will make the most of the time we have available with a large number of shorter presentations which you can follow up on later, as well as in depth discussions on the core conference topics.
Five topics will be covered over two days; Customer-centred services, ‘Information sharing between agencies’ and ‘Open Government Data Half Day’(Monday): The Government ICT Roadmap, and Innovation (Tuesday).
A two hour ideas fair will run each day from 11 to 1pm to featuring demonstrations, examples, tools and how to's. More detail below.
Monday 18th June

Open Government Data (Half) Day 2012- “you’re only as good as your last re-use”
The Open Government Data and Information Programme Secretariat and OpenNZ bring you a showcase of new developments since the roaring success of last year’s Open Government Data Day “you’re only as good as your last release”. This event will bring together the open data developer community, agency data champions, and people interested in how open government data can be released for reuse.

Information Sharing
Ministry of Justice and others bring you a deep dive into the Privacy Act Amendment Bill currently before the House. As well as adding in-principle-sharing between IRD and other agencies, a new approach of information sharing agreements may soon be available in some form. After attending this workshop you will know what is proposed in the Bill, how groups of agencies apply to get an agreement, who approves it, how agreements work and the differences between information sharing and data matching agreements.

9.15 Government ICT Roadmap updates. Office of the GCIO and others - Cloud, Infrastructure as a Service, Common Web Services - and the new pipeline concepts moving to business cases in 2012/13. Some of these will feature in the Ideas Fair.
10.30 ICT Roadmap Session Wrap up and Lightning talks (3 minutes each) from the Day 2 Ideas Fair participants.
11-1 Ideas Fair and lunch.

1-3 Innovation - iphone apps, joint programmes and developments from across the country including new ways of working from Christchurch.
3pm Afternoon tea
3.30 Innovation continues. Wrap up with questions to presenters - is innovation a repeatable process?
